A sweet conclusion to a dark journey for three sisters.

A satisfying conclusion to the story of the Raven's daughters. This one less bloody than the last and with lots of reuniting of various characters throughout the series.

It was a hard story to get started on (for me) as the main character starts off by falling ill with a terminal decease. Having just lost several people to cancer and the like, it hit close to home!

However I had my doubts that Joyce was gonna write off the MC in such a brutal manner (and I'd be very angry if she did because I think the Hawk is my favorite of the sisters). Now I don't wanna spoil anything so no more on that...

What was wanted since the beginning of book 1 was the reunion of the sisters and I'm glad of how it delivered here. There was a bit of anger and resentment, but most was put aside because each character has gone through their own arc of growth and now one of them was in need. There was apologies and amends in an organic flow as there has been time for all to process their trauma (these characters are old and live long so there are ~ 100 years between each book. Plenty of time to let your anger towards your family cool off a bit). With lots of wine and a healthy chat/boasting about your partners abilities in the bedroom, grudges can be put aside.

The poly relationships are in full flow in this book too, now added on with some godly power.

We peel off a few more layers of Joyce's massive world and it leaves you hungry to read the story of what happened thousands of years prior (and yeah, I know Joyce is working on those books and I'm definitely on the buy list). It does feel like this story wants to cut loose and become an epic story instead of 'cozy', and the end do suffer a little bit because of this. I'd been happy just focusing on the main quartet of lovers. I do wonder just how many books there'll be to cover this massive world and lore!

But, all in all, I really enjoyed this whole series. It's sweet, dark, gritty, and honest. Lots of hot, steamy moments, disability and queer rep, and a vast, well-built world. It's a happy fantasy reading for sure!
